This is a tough topic, and I anticipate it growing in prominence as there are growing numbers of “nones” (no religious affiliation), the avenues of popular critique have never been more open, and as the field of bioethics is fighting fiercely between “speciesism” and “human exceptionalism.” We are left to wonder, what does all the animal suffering tell us about the goodness of God? That’s a good question!
